Community Guidelines

Our community is built on empathy, respect, and shared support. These guidelines help us maintain a safe space where everyone feels heard and valued on their fertility journey.

Our Core Values

  • Compassion First: Every journey is unique and valid
  • Safe Space: This is a judgment-free zone
  • Inclusive Support: We welcome all paths to parenthood
  • Evidence-Based: We share experiences, not medical advice

Respectful Communication

Do:

  • Share your personal experiences using "I" statements
  • Offer support and encouragement without assumptions
  • Respect different treatment choices and family-building paths
  • Use trigger warnings when discussing pregnancy loss or sensitive topics
  • Celebrate others' successes, even when you're struggling
  • Ask for consent before offering advice or suggestions

Don't:

  • Offer unsolicited medical advice or diagnoses
  • Compare pain or minimize others' experiences
  • Share "toxic positivity" or guarantee outcomes
  • Post promotional content or spam
  • Share others' personal stories without permission
  • Use harmful language or discriminatory comments

Content Guidelines

Sharing Your Story

We encourage authentic sharing while maintaining boundaries:

  • Share what feels comfortable for you
  • You're never obligated to share more than you want
  • Respect your partner's privacy preferences
  • Use content warnings for potentially triggering topics

Trigger Warnings

Please use trigger warnings (TW) or content warnings (CW) for:

  • Pregnancy announcements
  • Pregnancy loss discussions
  • Medical procedure details
  • Graphic descriptions of symptoms or treatments
  • Mental health crisis situations

Privacy & Safety

  • Never share others' personal information
  • Respect requests for anonymity
  • Don't screenshot and share private conversations
  • Report any concerning behavior to moderators
  • Protect your own privacy - share only what you're comfortable with

Inclusive Language

We strive to use inclusive language that respects all paths to parenthood:

  • Use "pregnant person" or "birthing parent" when gender isn't specified
  • Respect chosen family structures and definitions
  • Acknowledge different cultural perspectives on fertility
  • Avoid assumptions about relationships or sexuality
  • Use people-first language (e.g., "person experiencing infertility")

Supporting Each Other

The most powerful aspect of our community is mutual support:

  • Listen without judgment
  • Validate feelings and experiences
  • Share resources thoughtfully
  • Check in on community members going through tough times
  • Remember that everyone's capacity varies day to day

Reporting Concerns

If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines:

  1. Report it to moderators immediately
  2. Don't engage with harmful content
  3. Support affected community members
  4. Trust that moderators will handle it appropriately

Remember

Behind every comment is a real person with real feelings, often going through one of the most challenging experiences of their life. Lead with kindness, assume positive intent, and when in doubt, choose compassion.

These guidelines may be updated periodically. Last updated: August 3, 2026
